Troy Tempest goes racing!
Back then it was Carroll and Ken miles that took what ford had and made it better in 2016 it was ford that did it themselves but I will always be thankful to Carroll for always taking a good car and making it better because performance was his business lol
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Thank you Dean!
Those broncos set no limits on the race speed. The actual aerial shots of the broncos are legendary. Just priceless. Yeah James garner I am a fan. He mixed it with the best of the best in his career. Great narrator. He's a natural.Another world war hero James garner. Were ever you are i hope you're making a mile .😅😅
as its the first ever proper all ford supercar i find it really disappointing they couldn't bring it to market properly to be put up against the first mid engine corvette .
1st ever? This is the 3rd iteration of the Ford GT Supercar. Ford was racing mid engined Sports Cars back in the early 60s with the Ford GT, the Mangusta and The Pantera. Corvettes with mid-engined power were nowhere to be found.
As I said first "all ford" as apposed to Ford engine +ford money like those things you listed ..
Bad ass my favorite car the gt40. Go Ford showing that American companies are still the best. I have a race car mercury still a Ford. Had it for over 45 years. First on race day.
I heard somewhere recently , that James Garner had a street legal Lola T70 coupe, and drove it around his area of Los Angeles .
yes
You can find pictures of it by "Google James Garner's Lola"
@@DeanRicci1 I looked that up , but didn't see anything about a street legal T70 , only his team race car , however, having seen what passes as street legal in California , maybe he just took his race car out ,and didn't give a damn about legality??
He was a drag racing fan also.
Scooter's little mini is actually an Austin 1800.
That was so awesome,i love fords and the gt is absolutely the best 🎉❤
I saw that Raj Nair was helping a lot when he was not standing in their way, looks like a real professional nobody. DEI/ESG department.
Rather ridiculous comment on your part.
wow! that was amazing story created by Ford, to come back after 50 years and to take the 1st place is incredible. Le Mans you are a rockstar.
Must be great being millionaire movie stars!
Was Smo others running a FB
Por-sha
Myself, I'm just glad that all of these mentioned and many more - left us with what they did. We now get to take the straights flat out, watch the blind curves, and be at peace with ourselves. LET'S ALL GO RACING!
Good video ruined by the music
What was the name of the race queen at Ste-Jovite? She was a keeper.
Its a shame he bankrupted a racing giants company over not paying for the cars he ordered. Sir John Surtees car company, he took them to cleaners did Mr Garner. He slipped down the road when l found this out.
please explain ......
He did not bankrupt Surtees
This was great. Thank you. Ford would go on to close the decade of the 1960s by denying Porsche their first win in the greatest finish in Lemans history in June. David Hobbs was part of that team finishing third. Great film.
this is better than any racing stuff on any app
When Formula A became F5000 I got to see Dick Smothers race in Seattle. I forget who won, but DS was a competent driver and brought his car home in one piece. I'm thinking it was '72 as they still had the tall wings.
Magik.
No American driver
1:05:01 sounds like Mason Williams.
Makes you think. Must be thousands of workers, in the factory, machine shop, designers and the software they use, and staff, pit crew. drivers, and the boy who brings the cans of drinks round, all of whom must do their job without a mistake for the team to win at Le Mans. If any one of those makes a mistake, the repercussions down the line can make a win into a loss. I know, having run a race team of Me (driver, mechanic, constructor, tea maker, campervan and trailer driver) and wife (also driver, mechanic (except cam timing she could never get the hang of) constructor (except welding) tea maker, sandwich maker {very good} campervan and trailer driver, navigator, chocolate bar buyer, ---- the list goes on and on. If you forget something that lies at home on the workbench, and that's just what you need at the circuit, you are stuck! Now you imagine the complexity of running a professional team of 3 or 4 cars, gosh that really does need everyone to do their job! So well done all you guys, must be wonderful to stand on that podium in front of that huge Le Mans crowd.
Watch Adam Corolla’s “The Racing Life of Paul Newman”. You’ll get to know the real Paul Newman. He was a race car driver that did movies on the side. He was very humble.
I enjoyed this documentary and it is probably the fourth or fifth time that I watched it I have a 1966 Ford GT Superformance reproduction, then I purchased a 2005 Ford Gt, and finally a 2021 Ford GT, so this film is special to me It would be impossible to me which will be my preferred of the three
I was at that Sebring race. We went every year from '61 to '71.
Failed to mention they won primarily because of Carroll Shelby’s team
rubish,and Garners acting is crap
Man O Man, seeing this again for the first time since I first watched it when it premiered, I was 8yrs old & my Father had just got me my first go-kart & I've loved James Garner ever since, and of course my Dad ☺️Garner, McQueen, Newman & a few other's made famous by Hollywood, all were rabid racer's once bitten by the racing bug & that's a feeling i know oh so well, because I too was bitten & never to be the same again 😉 Thank you for posting this great old racing flick, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching it again 💪😎
Remember don't underestimate James....he keeps a 38 in the cookie jar of his trailer...lol
Cool👍
Gosh,I did enjoy that. No idea jg was so involved . Those Lola T70 just brilliant. Thank you for posting. Really felt the reality of racing.
No wonder that the famous driver from Torrance, California: Parnelli Jones is still around at 90 (as of 3-1-2024)...The long endurance races like "The Baja" makes many strength up over the years. This is an interesting film...Don't think I've seen it before. Garner was great to listen to...just like P.L. Newman was.
always enjoyed Garner's movies, and like McQueen, Newman and Dempsey, a real racer. Nice.
For one, I am and always will be a James Garner fan. But, ...I can't help but think the purpose of him making this documentary was to recoup ,at least some of the money, he had to have lost in this racing venture of his. Race cars, mechanics, drivers on payroll travel, etc etc etc and no big wins. Just disappointment after disappointment. RIP James
He was Enjoying living life to it's Fullest, few of us can actually say we have lived life on the " Edge " 🤔
It's truly shocking how much freedom we've lost in only one lifetime. We no longer control our own lives, we are monitored by our government at all times, and our racing men are women, like Lewis Hamilton.
James Garner was one of those rare guys who are at the same time the coolest dude around and incredibly on earth. Legend
It's 1969-70, and I'm loving it! A whole lot of really exciting things were going on and as a 13 year old the world was one heck of a thrill to be in. I sure miss those days, but at least for the past hour and a half we were back then. Thank you.
It’s a real shame that Ken Miles wasn’t even mentioned in this. He is the ONLY reason ford succeeded.
Does Scooter Patrick, have any relation to blabber mouth dana?
WOW!!!! Thanks for making this available.
That roll cage design was responsible for many deaths and injuries.
Fabulous. What a treat. So edifying too boot. More please.
James was in the 1960s movie GRAND PRIX! A great car flick too!
James Garner was amazing.
This is fantastic to watch. Just in case somebody missed it, Newman make one similar called Once upon the wheel, absolutelly fantastic too
